Fear of the Lord

Fear of the Lord = Stand in awe of Him, not to be afraid of Him - but in Awe!

Jesus favorite thing He did for us, is He bought for us relationship with the Father.

We became part of His family.

Fearing the Lord means to be in reverent awe of His holiness, to give Him complete reverence and to honor Him as the God of great glory, majesty, purity and power.

For example, when God revealed Himself to the Israelites at Mount Sinai through “thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast,” they all “trembled” in fear (Ex 19:16) because of His great power. They even begged Moses to deliver God’s message to them so they would not have to encounter God Himself (Ex 20:18-19; Dt 5:22-27).

“Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere Him. For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm” (Ps 33:8-9).

Have we lost our fear of the Lord? Has all the earth lost the fear of the Lord?

How can we love God, love Jesus, love the Holy spirit but yet not fear?

When we walk in the fear of God we become so close to Him that it causes us to do what He says - no matter what people are saying.

We as believers need to bring back the fear of the Lord. To be in awe of His Holiness. It is time to bring the earth to the fear of the Lord. He created the earth, spoke life into it, with His sacred breath. We must now speak life into the earth, restore it to its original intent.

We as believers need to speak life into each other and restore the fear of the Lord.

It is time to come back to the ancient path where the good way is (was), it is time to come back to the simplicity of what once was - that is relationship with Creator-God. Standing in awe of His holiness. Bringing honor, respect, love, & healing.

True fear of the Lord causes believers to place their faith and trust in Him alone for salvation. For example, after the Israelites crossed through the Red Sea on dry ground and saw how God destroyed the Egyptian army who came after them, they “feared the Lord and put their trust in Him”. The psalmist encourages all who fear the Lord to “trust in the Lord–He is their help and shield” (Ps 115:11). In other words, fearing God produces confidence, hope and trust in Him, which are necessary when we are looking to God for mercy, forgiveness (Lk 1:50; cf. Ps 103:11; 130:4) and spiritual salvation (Ps 85:9).

Here, fearing God means to be moved to belief and trust.

Joshua 24:14 (Walk in the fear of God). Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord!

This was the end of Israel's trials, a new beginning for their lives. You can't move into new land (promises) until you walk into the fear of God.

Exodus 20:20 And Moses said to the people "Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.

Fear of the Lord is hatred of sin and what it would do in relationship with Him.

Fear of God - obey Him. Idolatry is forbidden, be holy as I am holy. Holy is strongs - 6918, meaning: that which is consecrated. Be in touch with God.

Jesus took our sins to the cross - we are clean and sinless. The Father sees us through what Jesus did on the cross.

You can be like Me - you can be holy for I am holy.

Israelites hated correction, this is why they wondered. If you can not be corrected - you do not walk in the fear of God. God corrects in love. Rebuke = place value upon (relationship value). He values us.

Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Basically, this verse teaches that the fear of God is foundational to true wisdom.

Until our hearts are in a right relationship with God, we are unable to have the “wisdom that comes from heaven” (James 3:17).

Deuteronomy 31: 12-13. Assemble the people, the men, the women, the children, and the stranger who is in your town, so that they may hear and learn and fear the Lord your God, and be careful to follow all the words of this law (teachings). And their children, who have not known, will hear and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as you live on the land which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.

Go forward, possess the land and teach on the fear of the Lord.
