The Power Of Unity

Writer: Deb Miller RobinsonDeb Miller Robinson

It is time that we war for UNITY!!!

We as believers need to stand in the gap for unity, if we don't, who will fight this battle?

Unity = means you respect a person's opinion, it doesn't mean you agree with it but honor where they are at in their life.

It is not my job to change their opinion but I can offer my opinion.

When you give honor - you will receive honor.

The Father, Son & Holy Spirit honor their roll in the trinity, they each have a mighty purpose. I believe they want all of us to know them and know we are loved by them.

Love and Honor come together in unity. Sometimes it is up to us to change our mindsets for this to happen.

There are people in your life that will share their wisdom with you, pass this wisdom on to the next generation. Wisdom is shared to help us mature in what Creator has for us, to bring His Kingdom here on earth.

Unity is always a work in progress for us, especially when we don't understand how this should work.

Creator - Yahweh wants us to be in unity with Him, we have a choice to do this or not in every area of our lives.

I am still working on some area's in my life where I am not in unity. It is a process for me, but area's I am willing to fight for. Area's of when I have anxiety or stress (a lesson I am learning to overcome).

Recently I watched (along with my husband) 4 active grandkids. I had forgotten how much fighting, hitting, there are amongst siblings. This really brought back memories of myself and my brother, as we were growing up and also in raising our 3 kids. All the dynamics of disunity amongst a family. Oh my goodness such a battle all of us went through.

For me when we are in disunity, arguing and so forth how anxiety, & frustration enters into each of our lives. Unity is also learning to communicate in love without anger. Honoring each others words.

The Savior prayed for unity among His disciples: “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us” (John 17:21). The gospel creates a unity of faith with our Father, our Savior, and our fellow believers (see Ephesians 4:13).

Why is unity important?

Unity represents togetherness. Therefore, it is standing together for every thick and thin matter. There are many stories as well as real-life incidences have proved that unity always leads a harmonious and fulfilling life for all.

The God we serve is a God of unity who desires that His people and church live in unity and harmony built on the foundation that is Jesus Christ. It is Jesus who draws us together and the power of the Holy Spirit that make our bond stronger.

1. “Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” ~ Psalm 133:1

Where there is unity, God commands a blessing in our lives since He created us to be interdependent. When people are united it’s amazing to behold the things that can be accomplished through a collective effort.

All great things are accomplished are never done by an individual but through the efforts of a team. What’s more beautiful at the end of the day is not so much the goal itself, but the relationships formed.

2. “Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous.” ~ 1 Peter 3:8

It’s almost impossible to be united with a fellow brother or sister without a level of compassion towards them. The way to build rapport with another person is to demonstrate love and connect with them at the heart level.

3. “Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.” ~ Romans 12:16

There are many things to think about how we can be in Unity. It is an action on our behalf.

Sometimes we need to lower our expectations of ourself and of others.

Unity can happen when we honor and love as Jesus did. Remember He is praying for unity to happen here on earth.
